*Note: To pay, it will ask you to connect your bank account. This is so if you end up in the top three, the payout will be deposited into your bank account. Your information is 100% secure and we will not have access to any of your banking information.
Scoring will be non-cancellation format. This means you add up the total number of points you get each round. Your point total at the end of each round is not impacted by the amount of points your opponent receives.
Matches will be played to 21 points OR whoever is winning after 15 minutes of play. Whichever comes first. Teams may go past 21 points.
For bean bags that land on the board, you get 1 point. For bean bags that go in the hole, you get 3 points. Bean bags that hit the floor before hitting the board do not count and should be removed from the board. These are worth 0 points. Bags that end up entirely on the floor, whether they hit the board first or not, are worth 0 points.
Team members will stand straight across from one another as shown in the diagram below:
Both feet of players must remain behind the front edge of the cornhole board while tossing bean bags.
All bean bag tosses must be made underhanded. No sidearm or overhand throws.
Teams will get 4 tosses per round with each team alternating after each throw (Team A tosses one bag, then Team B tosses one bag etc.).
Players must toss bean bags within 15 seconds. (If the 15 minute time limit is about to be reached, you can't just stand there and hold the bag in order to prevent your opponent from tossing.)
Ahead of the first round, teams will do rock-paper-scissors to determine who gets to toss first. Moving forward, whichever team has the most points in a round, tosses first in the next round. If the score is tied after a round, the team who went first in the prior round goes first again.
If you're new to the game, bean bags do not get removed after each toss. All bean bags will remain where they are after each toss. They are not to be removed until the end of the round. A round is not over until players on both teams tossed all 4 of their bean bags. The only exception to this is bean bags that hit the floor first and bounce onto the board. These are considered "dead bean bags" and they should be removed from the board immediately.
Scores at the end of each round are based on where all bean bags lie at the end of a round. For example, if you toss a bag that lands on the board, and later in the same round, that bean bag is knocked into the hole, it is now worth 3 points instead of 1. In addition, if a bag that lands on the board is knocked off by another bean bag, it is now worth 0 points instead of 1 point. This is the case regardless of whether your team or your opponent knocks your bean bag.
You may not interfere with any bean bag tosses by obstructing any part of the board, knocking bean bags out of mid-air etc.
Matches will be self-officiated. Please play fair! If you spot your opponent tossing a bean bag from in front of the front edge of the cornhole board, please make sure to call it out immediately. If a foot foul is called, that bean bag toss will be worth 0 points regardless of where it lands and should be removed from the board.
At the end of each match, please report which team won to the tournament organizer.
Tournament format will be round robin pools culminating in a 16-team playoff.
Teams will be broken up into 16 different groups and you will play a round robin tournament amongst the teams in your group. The top team from each of the 16 groups will advance to a 16-team playoff.
Depending on the amount of teams in the tournament, you won't necessarily play every team in your group. To determine the top team, in addition to win-loss records, total score and point differentials will also be used to determine the top teams in a pool if necessary.
Yes! There will be tons of FREE parking available on campus at Manhattan University on the day of the event right near the venue.
Absolutely not! The point of this event is to have fun and meet your neighbors. No judgement at this cornhole tournament! It's all about having a good time.
This tournament is exclusively geared toward adults (18+) of ANY skill level. This event is dedicated to giving adults a chance to play, unwind, and have some fun outside of the usual nightlife! Come join the adults who are young at heart.
This tournament is geared towards adults. All participants should be 18+. With that being said, if you want to bring your kids along to come and watch, feel free to do so. Given the tournament is open to those 18-20, this will be an alcohol-free event. If you bring super young kids, please make sure they are supervised at all times and don't run in front of any live matches!
Hot chocolate and apple cider will be available along with some light bites & snacks. These items are included in the entry cost and there is no additional fee.
Unfortunately, the venue does not allow outside food or drinks. You can probably bring a water bottle, but outside of that, no food or drinks.
We get it! You don't want to download another app! But SchoolYard Social has been a great partner in helping to bring this tournament to life. We've been in touch with the app's founder and he's been extremely helpful in getting this whole thing organized. Literally we've spent hours on the phone with him and he's happy to answer any questions we have. And he's not charging us a single cent for his expertise and knowledge.
Right now, the only way to join tournaments that use their platform is to download their app. But the app is free to download. We have no stake in the game though and it's not like we get paid for every download the app gets. As soon as the tournament is over, you're more than welcome to delete the app from your phone forever. We won't tell on you!
Please fill out our free agent form and we will do our best to find you a partner!
